Become A Bite Back Activist

A group of young people outside in a field holding protest signs that read 'Fuel Us, Don't Fool Us', 'Don't Hide What's Inside', 'Fork The System', at the front of the group, there is a young Asian woman with long black hair wearing an emerald green shirt with a black tshirt underneath. She is holding a sign as she looks off to the side.

What Will It Involve?

If you’re selected for our Youth Board you will be offered year-round training and support. This includes developing your leadership skills, campaigning, media and employability.

All activists will meet as a group twice each year, including at our residential training days in the summer of 2024 and at the end-of-year party in December. In between you’ll have regular online meetings where you will work on campaign planning and development, skills building, meeting inspirational speakers and one to ones with our youth team.

This might involve:

  • Speaking with or writing for local media — newspapers, radio or television.
  • Meeting your local MP, mayor, councillors or business leaders.
  • Organising a stunt, petition or campaign to raise awareness of the issues you care about.
  • Making creative social media content to spread the word about your campaign.
  • Doing research into the food system in your local community.
  • Developing your skills including: communication, team building, leadership and writing, amongst many others

Applications from young people who are eligible for free school meals, or are from minority ethnic backgrounds are particularly welcomed. All expenses for the programme are covered, and if there are any adjustments you need that would make you more comfortable applying or participating, just reach out to us on rachel.newman@biteback2030.com.
