School Food is being rewritten, Now it’s time for champions.

Every child deserves food at school that helps them learn, grow and thrive. It’s a no-brainer. But right now, too many young people are being let down.

Through our Big Food in Schools campaign, students across England have been exposing what’s really happening in school canteens. They’ve told us about grab and go food dominating the menu. About the same unhealthy options appearing day after day. About fruit pots costing more than cookies, and about a system where nobody seems to be checking whether the rules designed to protect children’s health are actually being followed.

At a time when one in three children in England leave primary school at risk of a future of food-related ill health, that’s not good enough.

That’s why young people at Bite Back launched Big Food in Schools.

We’ve spent months sharing young people’s experiences, uncovering evidence and shining a light on a school food system that too often puts convenience and profit ahead of children's health.

Now it’s time for your local MP to step up too.

Introducing School Food Champions

School Food Champions are MPs who commit to standing with young people to help fix school food.

They’re supporting better school food in England.

They’re backing monitoring and accountability so School Food is meeting the standards children deserve.

They’re helping make sure healthy food is available throughout the school day - not just on paper.

And they’re championing young people’s voices in Westminster, because the people most affected by school food should be part of shaping its future.

The rules are being rewritten.

Right now, the government is reviewing school food in England for the first time in decades.

This gives us a rare opportunity to improve the food millions of children across England eat every day.

We know great school food is possible. Young people want it. Schools across the country are already showing what good looks like.

But without stronger standards, proper monitoring and real accountability, too many children will continue to be let down.

This is our chance to change that.

Ask your MP to become a School Food Champion.

Your local MP has the power to help improve school food for children and young people across England.

By becoming a School Food Champion, they can show they are committed to protecting children’s health and supporting a healthier future for the next generation.

We’re asking people across England to contact their MP and ask them to join us.

If enough MPs stand with young people, we can help make healthy, tasty school food the norm…not a privilege.

Let’s protect children’s health together.
